November 29th was a night to remember for Graphic Mint. The Spider Awards were held at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) in Ballsbridge in Dublin and Graphic Mint was humbled to win the “Tech for Good” category with our Homelight concept. This is a project we have been working on for most of 2018. We believe it is something that could eventually help families who find themselves homeless.
Tech for Good
The Spider Awards are “Ireland’s Leading Technology Awards”. They cover a broad range of categories related to online and digital media. The “Tech for Good” category was sponsored by Magnet Networks. It focuses on how technology can be used to help people. Graphic Mint won with our conceptual app Design “Homelight“. This is a project we have been working on for the past nine months. The aim of Homelight is to help registration as homeless, and the process of requesting accommodation services, simpler for all involved. It does this by allowing users to apply for accommodation through their smartphone. It also provides the User with status updates and notifications.
At the moment we have only reached the prototype phase with our Design. We would love to partner with anyone interested in turning this into reality. By doing so, we believe it can contribute to helping homeless people in Ireland. To begin with, we would like to have a pilot trial where we could get real user feedback to validate our Design.
You can read more about the app concept in this article on Irish Tech News.
The Spider Awards
There were many other awards handed out on the night for many interesting projects. Some of the winners that caught our eye include AIB (Allied Irish Bank) who won “Best in Mobile Commerce & Transactions” for their online mobile banking app, Meet in Ireland who won “Best in Travel, Tourism & Sport” and Setanta College who won “Best in Education & eLearning” for World Rugby e-learning. The full list of winners can be found here, and well done to all!
